प्राकृतिक सौंदर्य के स्थान:
पचमढ़ी: देश के सर्वश्रेष्ठ पर्वतीय आकर्षणों में से एक पचमढ़ी है। यह समुद्र तल से 3555 फुट की ऊँचाई पर स्थित है। यहां साल भर सुहाना मौसम रहता है। इस पर्वतीय स्थल की खोज का श्रेय ब्रिटिश साम्राज्य के एक अधिकारी कैप्टन जे. फारसोथ को जाता है। इसका क्षेत्रफल वन क्षेत्र सहित 60 वर्ग किमी. है।
ग्रीष्म ऋतु में अधिकतम तापमान 27.7 और न्यूनतम तापमान 8.3 सेण्टीग्रेड रहता है। वर्षा ऋतु में भी पचमढ़ी की शोभा और बढ़ जाती है। यहां की स्वास्थ्यप्रद जलवायु, मनोरम वादियां, आकर्षक जलप्रपात, उत्तुंग शिखर, मनभावन उद्यान और अनूठे फूल-पौधे का अनुपम सौंदर्य बस देखते ही बनता है।
अपने इस सौन्दर्य के कारण ही पचमढ़ी को "सतपुड़ा की रानी", "मध्यप्रदेश का कश्मीर" कहा जाता है। ग्रीष्मकाल में जब मैदानी भाग लू के तप्त थपेड़ों से विकल रहते हैं, तब पचमढ़ी में शीतल हवा के झौंकों का स्पर्श मन को पुलकित कर देता है। वर्षा ऋतु में तो पचमढ़ी और हसीन हो जाती है।
सन् 1862 में पचमढ़ी आए कैप्टन फारसोथ को यह इलाका खूब रास आया। कैप्टन फारसोथ ने जब इस मनोरम स्थल के बारे में अपने अंग्रेज अफसरों को बताया तो उन्होंने इसे विकसित करने की दिशा में पहल शुरू की, उन दिनों पचमढ़ी पर कोरकू जागीरदार का कब्जा था।
अंग्रेज अफसरों ने कोरकू जागीरदार से भूमि खरीदी और इसके बाद अपनी योजनाओं को अंजाम दिया। अंग्रेज शासन काल में निर्मित इमारतें आज भी अपने अतीत की कहानी कहती प्रतीत होती हैं। पचमढ़ी की वादियों ने फिल्म निर्माताओं को भी लुभाया है। यहां अनेक फिल्मों की शूटिंग की जा चुकी है। वन संपदा और जड़ी-बूटियों से पचमढ़ी आज भी समृद्ध है।
